The Portuguese Players Union has been monitoring the deteriorating situation of the portuguese third division (Campeonato de Portugal), for several years, and the main problems faced by players in this competition, which, although legally qualified as non-professional, have hundreds of professional athletes.

The Union published a position paper with the main reflections and proposals for regulatory changes in the third division.

Who played in the third division last season was Marco Soares. At 36, the Cape Verdean midfielder is preparing to start a new season with FC Arouca, to fulfill his goal of complete 20 years as a professional football player.

In addition to football, Marco Soares returned to high school to finish his graduation and will set up its own business, a clothing and footwear project, with his own design.
