A 23 de fevereiro de 1972 foi constituído o Sindicato dos Jogadores Profissionais de Futebol, pelos fundadores Artur Jorge, Eusébio, Fernando Peres, José Rolando, Manuel Pedro Gomes e João Barnabé, entre outros.

50 anos depois, o Sindicato dos Jogadores continua a ser a voz do jogador em Portugal, uma organização reconhecida e respeitada no plano nacional e internacional.

On February 23, 1972, Portuguese Players Union was created by the founders Artur Jorge, Eusébio, Fernando Peres, José Rolando, Manuel Pedro Gomes and João Barnabé, among others.

50 years later, the Players Union continues to be the voice of players in Portugal, an organization recognized and respected at national and international level.

Fábio Vieira, do FC Porto, e Pedro Mendes, do Rio Ave, foram eleitos os Melhores Jogadores Jovens de janeiro da Primeira e Segunda Liga, respetivamente, pelo Sindicato dos Jogadores. Este troféu é atribuído aos jogadores de nacionalidade portuguesa com menos de 23 anos.

Fábio Vieira (FC Porto) and Pedro Mendes (Rio Ave FC) were elected the Best Young Players of january of the First and Second League, respectively, by the Portuguese Union. This award is given to the players of Portuguese nationality with 23 years at maximum.
